Best Places to Visit in Tetouan: The White Dove of Morocco — Part 2
Wild Tetouan: Mountains, Springs, and Horses
In Part 1 we explored the old medina, Place Feddan, and Place El Mechouar. This time we're leaving the city behind to discover the nature around Tetouan — and trust me, it's a completely different world.
Tetouan isn't just white walls and narrow alleys. Just minutes away, you'll find green mountains, turquoise springs, and highlands where horses roam free. This is Part 2 of our series.
4. Ain Zerqa (The Blue Spring)
Ain Zerqa is one of the most beautiful natural spots near Tetouan. A natural spring with stunning turquoise water, surrounded by massive rocks and tall trees. The place looks like something out of a movie.
The water is cold and crystal clear — locals come here to swim and cool off in the shade. Next to the spring, small cafés serve mint tea while you listen to the sound of flowing water. It's incredibly relaxing, especially on hot summer days.
Tip: Go early to get a good spot — weekends get packed. And bring swimwear if you want to take a dip.

5. Jebel Bouanane
Want to see Tetouan from above? Jebel Bouanane is the place. From the top, the entire white city stretches out below you, mountains behind, blue sky above. A panoramic view that's hard to describe.
The climb isn't too difficult — you can drive close to the summit. The spot is quiet and perfect for photography, or just sitting and taking it all in.
Tip: Best time is before sunset — the light turns golden and the city glows from below. Bring a light jacket because the wind picks up at the top.

6. Fahs El Mohr
Fahs El Mohr is a green highland plateau in the mountains near Tetouan. The place is known for horses grazing freely across the meadows — not something you see every day.
The nature here is raw and wild. Rolling green hills, clean air, and silence — just you and the landscape. Perfect for hiking, a family outing, or simply breaking away from the city routine.
Tip: The road gets a bit rough — a higher vehicle is better. Bring food and have a picnic in the middle of nature.

Why Visit These Places?
Raw nature: No mass tourism here — you experience it as it is
Variety: From turquoise springs to mountain peaks to green meadows — each spot has its own character
Proximity: Everything is 30-45 minutes from downtown Tetouan
Free: No entrance fees — nature belongs to everyone
