Best Places to Visit in Tetouan: The White Dove of Morocco — Part 3

Tetouan's Beaches: 6 Shores You Need to Visit This Summer

In Part 1 we explored the old medina, Place Feddan, and Place El Mechouar. In Part 2 we discovered Ain Zerqa, Jebel Bouanane, and Fahs El Mohr. Now it's time for the sea.

Tetouan is lucky — just 15 to 30 minutes from the city center, you'll find some of the best Mediterranean beaches in Morocco. Crystal-clear water, golden sand, and each beach with its own personality. This is Part 3, the final chapter of our series.

7. Cabo Negro

Cabo Negro is the most exclusive resort in the area. A 3-kilometer stretch of fine sand, water so clear it almost doesn't look real, and a calm atmosphere compared to the busier beaches nearby.

The area has a 9-hole golf course, tennis courts, solid restaurants, and a holiday resort complex. In summer the beach fills up, but it never reaches the chaos levels of M'diq or Martil. That's exactly why families and quiet seekers love it here.

Tip: Best time to visit is June through September. Try one of the beachside restaurants — the seafood is fresh and reasonably priced.

8. Almina Beach

Almina Beach is one of the newer and most active spots in the area. A wide sandy beach with calm water, known for its water activities — especially Aqua Fun, an inflatable water park right in the sea.

The surrounding area has modern white villas and holiday homes. It's a great beach for families with kids — the water is shallow and calm, and the activities keep children busy all day long.

Tip: Bus line 35 goes directly to Almina Beach — no car needed. If you want to try Aqua Fun, go early because spots are limited.

9. M'diq Beach

M'diq Beach is one of the most famous beaches in northern Morocco — and one of the most beautiful. The water is so clear you can see pebbles on the bottom at 8 meters deep. The sand is soft and golden.

M'diq is a full coastal town, not just a beach. The waterfront promenade is packed with cafés and restaurants, and its fishing port is one of the most active in the region — fresh fish arrives daily. The town has also become a diving destination, with several clubs offering full experiences for around 500 dirhams.

Tip: Dinner on the corniche at sunset is something you can't miss. Order the grilled catch of the day — the best thing you'll eat in the north.

10. Marina Smir

Marina Smir is the luxury pick. A modern yacht marina, a 700-meter sandy beach, and first-class hotels and resorts. The place looks more like the south of France than Morocco.

The beach has everything — umbrellas, lounge chairs, beach bars, showers, and lifeguards. There's also a golf course and various water sports. Marina Smir is perfect if you want a premium experience without traveling far.

Tip: 45 accommodation options within 2 km of the beach. Best time to visit is June to September — air temperature around 25-30°C and water around 22-25°C.

11. Restinga Beach

Restinga Beach, or Restinga Smir — this place used to be a small fishing village. Now it's one of Morocco's priciest summer destinations. Some call it "Morocco's Côte d'Azur" — and it's not hard to see why.

The beach stretches about one kilometer with golden sand and clear Mediterranean water. The area is filled with restaurants — from seafood to Moroccan and Mediterranean cuisine. There are also luxury hotels like The St. Regis La Bahia Blanca Resort.

Tip: Restinga is a great spot for a seaside lunch — try La Table de la Plage or La Perla. Prices are slightly higher than M'diq but the quality and ambiance are worth it.

12. Kabila Beach

Kabila Beach is ranked #1 out of 68 beaches in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region — and that ranking is well deserved. A white sand beach stretching about 3 kilometers, crystal-clear water, and a relaxed family atmosphere.

The place has all the basics — beachfront cafés (like Restaurant La Chacha), chairs and umbrellas, lifeguards, and free parking. Hotel Kabila sits right on the beach with stunning views of the Mediterranean.

Tip: Kabila is the ideal choice if you want a calm beach with all the facilities. 49 accommodation options within 1 km — browse them on MarocBooking.
